Portraits
These galleries are a collection of portraits that range from Lifestyle, Family, Holiday, Fashion, Formal and some of my “giving back” portrait work for Operation Love Reunited. Portraits are a different style of picture than most others since they are close and personal. As my client, you can trust me and feel comfortable with me as your choice of photographer. I work hard to build that trust and to help you feel comfortable before, during and after the shoot because it’s that trust that is one of the cornerstones on making great portraits.
As a parent, I love shooting family and children portraits and I can easily relate to the special needs of families trying to get that magic image for the holidays or for the special occasion. I understand completely about shifting schedules, feeding times, nap times and just plain grouchy times and I work around or with them accordingly.
For those looking to build a portfolio, you also have special needs that I can easily meet. I am a very relaxed photographer as some of my clients have said before. This and my ability to work with you and to help guide you makes for some very special images that will grab attention.
Many people have unpleasant memories of the "Family Portrait" where they were squashed together and blasted with a flash in their face. I on the other hand, believe that a family portrait should be a family heirloom that captures the essence of a family with an image that everyone can be proud of. These portraits can be shot at the home, in the studio or at some special location.

When you mention glamour portrait, it evokes a very special type of image. There is special lighting, special sets, make up artists, hair stylists and more. This is not your garden variety of a portrait with a plain backdrop. It's all about setting a special emotion or mood and then photographing that emotion and capturing it. I specialize in shooting with the "old school" type of hot lights such as ARRI's which is the only way to really capture the old Hollywood look. I also shoot with CFL continuous lighting for fashion style of shooting where the smallest change of the face or position can make or break the power of the image. This lighting lets me shoot constantly without fear of the strobes not keeping up with my shooting. And yes, I shoot with strobes also as needed. In addition, I can shoot with real film for that special look that is almost impossible to get with digital. I use a Mamiya 645 1000S medium format camera which gives us a negative that is about 3 times the size of 35mm or a full frame digital camera.

A new idea in photography is taking a digital picture and then using a special software package and a graphics tablet to "paint" the image. The same techniques that are used in a oil or water color painting are used in the digital version and the effect can be striking when printed on a canvas. This makes for a very unique form of wall art for your house or place of business.
